Frequently voted as one of the best cities in the world in which to live Copenhagen is a confection of bright waterways, great food and lively culture.
First-time visitors can visit attractions around the city center, a canal boat cruise and museums. We took a public bus to get to the city center from the cruise port.
We soaked in the atmosphere at Nyhavn canal with its colorful buildings and waterways. Try a smørrebrød, an open sandwich, with herrings served in most cafes, or a or a gourmet burger in a brewpub. We tried the local beer and it did not disappoint.
Copenhagen is synonymous with Hans Christian Anderson, the author of “The little mermaid” and “The princess and the pea”.
The bronze statue of the little mermaid is a great attraction. It was originally a gift to the city from Danish brewer Carl Jacobsen founder of the famous Carlsberg brewery in 1913.
